The Thomas Jefferson Foundation seeks an Archaeological Analyst to generate and analyze high-quality digital data on artifacts and their excavation contexts from archaeological research at Monticello. This is a two-year, full time position with benefits. Key responsibilities include using DAACS classification and measurement protocols to catalogue archaeological artifacts into a PostgreSQL database, digitizing field records, stratigraphic sections and site plans from previous excavations, and assisting in the analysis and reporting of the resulting data. Extensive knowledge of the material culture of the early-modern British Atlantic, especially ceramics, is essential. Other requirements include a bachelor's degree in anthropology or related field, preferably with emphasis on archaeology, at least one year of archaeological field experience and one year of lab experience. Graduate study in archaeology and technical skills with SQL databases, CAD, digital photography, and image processing are preferred .
